We are delighted to Welcome back the amazing djembefola Sidiki Dembélé for a one day workshop on Saturday 22nd April 2017.
One of the most popular djembe players and teachers in the UK Sidiki has toured far afield wowing audiences with groove and blistering solos. In 2007 he was selected from amongst Ivory Coasts best players to perform with Afrika!Afrika! where he caught the attention of Georges Momboye. Since then he has gone on to teach and perform at some of the Uk’s largest festivals. Sidiki gave an amazing workshop in 2015 followed by an electric performance at the Down With Jazz festival, he wowed audiences again at Africa Day Dublin 2016.
Join us for a very special Dublin dance workshop with Ballet Nimba’s Artistic Director Idrissa Camara. Live drumming will be provided by Paul McElhatton and friends.
For the first time Manden Express will be playing their all new acoustic set which sees a return to a more traditional Malian Wassalou sound and bringing influences ranging from delta blues to contemporary jazz. Expect a headier mix of rhythmic signatures and hypnotic grooves. We have created a special drum section using African bass drums known as Dununs.
