Guinean Dance Workshop with Idrissa Camara – 11th & 12th March 2017

 

Join us for a very special Dublin dance workshop with Ballet Nimba’s Artistic Director Idrissa Camara. Live drumming will be provided by Paul McElhatton and friends.

Idrissa Camara is an award winning choreographer, dancer, musician and filmmaker from Guinea Conakry. He trained from childhood with Ballet Gbassikolo under the tutealage of Bangaly Bangoura, before himself leading many ballets accross West Africa. He arrived in the UK in 2007 and since that time he founded the fabulous Ballet Nimba a company who perform accross the UK and Internationally. You can read Idrissa’s wikipedia entry here

Now Idrissa comes to Dublin to share his exuberant energy and passion for dance. Come and share his love of all things Guinean!

Paul McElhatton who will be the lead drummer, has been studying African percussion for 15 years in Mali, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Gambia, Burkina Faso and the Ghanaian drum and Dance Ensemble in SOAS, University of London. He is founder of West African music groups Manden Express, Fakoli and Afro Eire.

Cost: 40 Euros per day
or 70 Euros for both days
