  • August 14th :: Open workshop in the rhythms of West Africa for the Djembe drum
    This one day workshop will focus on rhythms from Guinea the homeland of the djembe drum.
    No experience necessary and instruments are provided on request.
    Venue: The Temple lane rehearsal rooms (below the button factory) Temple Bar.
    Time 12-4pm
    Cost: 25e/20e unwaged/student.

Beginners courses

The Temple lane rehearsal rooms (Below the Button Factory) Temple Bar.

Mondays 6.30 - 8.15pm.

An introduction to the traditional Djembe and Dundun rhythms of West Africa.

The classes focuses on technique, hand positioning, the three primary sounds of the Djembe, traditional rhythms and how to enter and exit the music using calls and breaks.

Drums are provided.

Intermediate courses

The Temple lane rehearsal rooms (Below the Button Factory) Temple Bar.

Mondays 8.20 - 10.10pm.

Moving on to Guinea the homeland of the Djembe drum.

This class is not for the faint hearted and is aimed at those who strive to become a 'Djembefola'.

Dunun playing is encouraged by all and we move through a wide repetoire of traditional rhythms. All rhythms are played with full Dundun section and focus on acceleration, calls and solos.
